David Benson is the executive vice president of the American Cancer Society’s North Region, which serves communities in Alaska, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Washington, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.
As the North Region’s senior-most staff executive, David is responsible for driving the development and implementation of the American Cancer Society’s income and mission strategies across its 13 states. He also works to engage corporate executives, community partners, high-level donors, and leadership volunteers in furthering the fight against cancer.?
Under his leadership, American Cancer Society staff and volunteers in the North Region work tirelessly to provide direct services to thousands of cancer patients and caregivers each year; support hundreds of community-based events and programs; engage and mobilize companies to advance our lifesaving mission; and raise millions of dollars annually to save lives, celebrate lives, and lead the fight for a world without cancer.
During his nearly 20-year career with the American Cancer Society, David has served in a variety of leadership positions and worked in the areas of marketing/communications, government relations, major gifts fundraising, and strategic planning.
David has a Master’s degree in Business Administration from St. Thomas University, and a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Religion from St. Olaf College.?
He currently resides in Minnesota with his wife, Kristyn, and daughters, Eva and Elin.
